About

Call me Aesop. Don’t get me wrong. I didn’t pick the name because I’m wise or full of morals. I’m the frog who gives the scorpion a ride every time. I just like to tell stories. This isn’t about dispensing sage advice. I don’t have a corner on what is best or right. This is just a conversation. Anyone who is kind and gentle can join. But unless and until they do, I’ll just talk to myself.

Who am I? Just a father with two daughters. My girls are both teens at the moment. I’ll call them Susan and Lucy so they preserve some privacy. Our little family also includes two boy and two girl dogs. Call any one of them Mutt and Jeff or Josephine will likely run over as well. Heck, they all answer to Sally if you have food in your hand. What do we like? The standard stuff: Movies, books, TV, music, zombies, vampires, coconut milk and football (European and American).

We have all the travails of any normal family. My older daughter is looking forward to college and the sun has set on her “love” for Twilight’s Edward. She may still have a thing for McDreamy, though House attracts more of her attention at the moment. My younger daughter is OK with boys, but not looking for me to set a date on when she will get to date. She has stopped reading Harry Potter obsessively (i.e. in exclusion to all else) but still seems addicted to the Disney channel. We all like “Firefly,” “Serenity” and Nathan Fillone, especially as the alien-shooting sheriff of “Slither.”

In other words, nothing unusual here. But we’re special to ourselves.
